Our son adopted Angel about two month ago. He is working part time and going to college. Therefore, my husband and I have been the care givers. We have giving her lots of love and attention. But, we just do not have the time and energy that she requires at 6 months old. She is just like a baby. She is like a two year old child. We are about to complete our job with our only child and we are not able to take this responsability.

My husband and I love Angel and feel that it is best for Angel to have a person that can attend, play, and educate her. In return, Angel will give you lots of unconditional love and loyalty.
If you are interested on this nice, healty, and strong dog, please email us at hapachico@hapachico.com .....Thank you very much

I would like to offer a few suggestions to you and your husband regarding Angel.

First, if your son got her from a rescue group, ask them to take her back. Any good rescue group will do that. If she came straight from a shelter, then don't send her back. No matter how good the shelter, it is a stressful environment for any dog.

Second, go to petfinder.com and read their selection of articles on Giving Up Your Pet. They are a great resource. Contact a local rescue group and ask if they will courtesy list Angel on Petfinder, while you act as a foster until the right family comes along.

Third, give more info about her. That's a cute photo of her, although the ItSucks title kind of turned me off. Potential adopters need to know if she is housetrained, crate-trained, spayed, vaccinated, obedience trained, can be leash-walked, how much she weighs currently, etc... From the picture, she looks like a pit/lab mix -- is that what your vet thinks? Where do you live? How far will folks have to go to see her? You get my point...

Fourth, and most important, your son needs to know he really screwed up. You just can't pick up a puppy because it's cute and you got emotional about it. What was he thinking?????? College student and part-time working? What a recipe for neglect, no matter how much he loves the animal. Animals are not disposable items, to be chucked out after 4 months because they "don't fit." I mean, anybody who knows anything knows that getting a puppy is like bringing a baby into the house. You hit the nail on the head. Thank God for Angel that you are responsible parents, and have been willing to assume the burden of your son's mistake. Unfortunately, Angel is the victim here. I hope your son waits until he is truly settled down and a lot more mature before he ventures into the pet ownership territory again. And after the dust settles, you may want to advise him that next time he considers adoption, he should get a dog that is at least 4-5 years old, that really needs a home and can deal with an owner's busy schedule. That is the test of true dog ownership responsibility in kids - adopting a dog that does not have big eyes and can pass the three-hour bladder test.

Good luck to you and to Angel. She looks like a real sweetie. Unfortunately there are about 3 million others like her in shelters every year, who also need to find a forever home.

Hi,
Angels is half Pit Bull and half Golden Retriver and she weight 40 pounds. Her medical records are up to date. We also bought insurance for her. We have been working with her to get her house trained. So far, she is doing fine. However, she needs to be taken out every two hours or so.

My son will not tell us where she got the dog. The only thing we know is that whomever had her, is very irresponsible. This person has Pit Bulls and trains them to fight. Angel was being abused by the older dogs. When we got her she had suffered cuts and she was very scared. She is very afraid of the broom. So we believe that she possibly was hit with it.

Today, Angel has brought my husband and I lots of love. She rides with me when I have go out. She also is training me. She is so full of energy that sometimes she makes me run. She is very strong for me.

She does require lots of room to play and she needs lots of exercise. Our walks consist of at least from one hour to two hours. When she gets home, she is tired and rests for a long time. Therefore, I know that the person that takes her, can use this dog as a motivator to keep in shape and Angel will return lots of love. She loves to sit next to me when I am working. I put her in a crate when I can not attend to her and she is fine with it, but I make sure that it is not for a long time and take the time to let her know that I am busy and will attend to her as soon as I am done.

My objective is to find a good parent for Angel that can really take care of her. I do not want her to go just to anyone. Otherwise, we will have to manage and keep her. The only issues with her is like any poppy dog; challenges with keeping an eye on her and educate her when she is not get into things.

Thanks so much for all your help.
