Owner vs. Guardian - Which Makes More Sense?

There has been a lot of debate lately over the use of the term "dog owner" vs. "dog parent" or "dog guardian". In fact, there is an entire campaign devoted the the topic - http://www.guardiancampaign.com/. We've been discussing it amongst ourselves and would love to get other views on the semantics of one versus the over.

I don't use "dog owner" because it makes a dog an "object" - which leads to all sorts of "sins" such as puppy mills. "dog parent" doesn't work since I haven't yet met a dog who was conceived and birthed by a human. "dog guardian" gets a little better, altho it is still a "Power over" stance. I believe that all of creation is inter-connected and each has a place.....Think circle instead of pyramid. So I refer to myself simply as "Daisy's human".
